Welcome to the University of Pittsburgh

Welcome to the Payroll Department’s site for new Staff members at the University of Pittsburgh! Here you will find some basic information about your pay and other related services. If you have any payroll questions, contact us. We will be happy to assist you!

Your Pay

The University of Pittsburgh pays employees via direct deposit. Full and Part-Time Exempt Staff and Full-Time Non-Exempt Staff are paid monthly on the last working day of the month. For an annual listing of monthly paydays view here.

Part-Time Non-Exempt Staff, Union Staff and All-Temps are paid Biweekly.  For an annual listing of biweekly paydays view here.

View exact paydays on the calendar. See 2021 salary, compensation and overtime payout timelines for non-exempt staff.

Pitt Worx

Pitt Worx is the University of Pittsburgh’s cloud-based human resources and payroll system. The user-friendly interface allows employees to view their payslip, update direct deposit and tax elections, enroll in benefits, and submit timecards all in one location.

Employee Self Service

The University of Pittsburgh offers Employee Self-Service for securely viewing your payslips and making changes to your address, direct deposit, and Form W-4.

After your first day of work, we recommend that you login to Employee Self-Service to verify the information you provided during the hiring process.

Pay & Taxes

Questions about your pay and deductions can be answered by reviewing the My Pay page, while your tax questions can be answered by reviewing the US Tax Information page. Nonresidents of the United States working at the University on visas have a different set of tax requirements. Information specific for nonresident employees is explained on the Global Payroll page.

Once you review which taxes apply to your pay, you can estimate your net pay with the Net Pay Calculator.

Signing Up for Benefits

Your benefit elections and deductions, including health care and retirement, are administered by the Benefits Department in Human Resources.

Employment Verification

If you are relocating to the area and planning to purchase a home or renting an apartment, your mortgage provider or landlord may want to verify your employment with the University.  Information on how you can authorize them to access your secure pay information is provided in the Employment Verification section.
