Forms W-2 will be available online to those that opted in for the electronic version and hard copies will be mailed to employees no later than January 31, 2022. Hard copy tax forms will be mailed to the address that was on file in Pitt Worx as of December 31, 2021. Please allow two weeks for delivery for paper forms after January 31, 2022.
Once Forms W-2 are available, for those that opted in for the electronic version, current employees will be able to access through Pitt Worx, Select Me > W-2 Information. Terminated and inactive employees will be able to access through their separate login.
Employees still have the option to opt-in and consent to receive electronic 2021 Forms W-2 at any time. New hires can opt-in to receive an electronic Forms W-2 beginning 45 days after their hire date. Terminated and inactive employees have separate instructions. For full instructions please visit the Payroll Department website. If you opt-in now, you will also receive a hard copy W-2 for 2021, as the deadline was December 31, 2021.
Forms 1042-S for non-resident aliens will be available online to those that opt in for the electronic version and hard copies will be mailed to employees no later than March 15, 2022. Please note, the consent process for the online 1042-S is separate from the online W-2 consent. If you are receiving a Form 1042-S you will be sent a separate notification with instructions to consent to the electronic version. If you do not consent to the electronic version, a hard copy 1042-S will be mailed to the address on file no later than March 15, 2022. If receiving a paper form please allow two weeks for delivery.
Once Forms 1042-S are available a notification will be sent with instructions for accessing for those that opted in for the electronic version.
Employees sometimes have questions on year-end forms that are not distributed by the Payroll Department. The following resources and contact information may be helpful regarding these year-end forms:
- Form 1095-C inquiries should be directed to the OHR website
- Form 1099 inquiries should be submitted through the Purchase, Pay & Travel web inquiry form, select Payment Processing as the service area.
- Form 1098-T (Tuition Statement). Access the form here or log into PittPAY and select the 1098-T Quick Link on the Account Summary tab.
- Visit the Student Payment Center’s Tax Information page for more information about Form 1098-T and education tax credits, or view IRS Publication 970, Tax Benefits for Education.
