Department Administrator Pitt Worx Resources

Pitt Worx is the University of Pittsburgh’s cloud-based human resources and payroll system. Additional resources including quick reference guides and training materials are available on the Pitt Worx Hub. Department administrators with payroll responsibilities may also utilize our new training presentation.

Employee Self-Service

Employees have direct access to view and change the following payroll-related information without any approval and without any changes needed to the employee record, through Employee Self-Service in Pitt Worx beginning 1/4/2021: 

  • View payslips 
  • View and update tax information 
  • View and update address 
  • View and update Personal Payment Information (Direct Deposit)

Reviewing Payroll Registers

There is an enhanced Payroll Register process that will help you ensure your department’s payroll is correct. The payroll register will be available to preview four business days prior to payday for the monthly payroll and two business days prior to payday for the biweekly payroll. The Pitt Worx access form must be completed if a department administrator needs access to run the preview payroll register reports.

If your department requires a QuickPay (off-cycle check), reversal, or pay adjustment outside of the normal pay cycle, you must submit a service request for exception processing. There is a fee to the requesting department for these types of services. To initiate a service request for exception processing, submit an inquiry through HR Client Services as follows:

  • For a QuickPay (off-cycle check), select Payroll > Payroll Service Request
  • For a payment adjustment, select Payroll > Payment Adjustment
  • For a reversal, select Payroll > Reversal/Overpayment

TEAM Form

  • The TEAM Form holds account number costing information for bi-weekly employees. This is also utilized to record where vacation and sick pay out is charged for monthly exempt staff at termination. Detailed instructions for using the TEAM Form are available specific to your role:
  • The NEAD Form will no longer exist after 12/31/2020. 

  • Monthly employees will still utilize SPARS (Supplemental Salaried Personnel Activity Reports). Visit this page for more information about SPARS or email your inquiry to:
