Former Employees

The following information provides resources pertaining to former employees. 

Information Changes

Employee Self-Service through Pitt Worx becomes unavailable upon termination. Former employees must complete any changes as outlined below.

Change of Address

Update your address to ensure your final payslip and Form W-2 are sent to the correct address:

  • International address – complete the Foreign Change of Address Form and submit to our secure upload site
  • U.S. address – First you need to create an online account at https://paperlessemployee.com/pitt. You will be required to provide your social security number, date of birth, and provide a personal contact method for multifactor authentication. Once you have logged in, select the Address and Tax Form Changes app on the Me page.

Final Payslip

Final payslips are printed and mailed to the address on file. If you need copies of pay statements, please submit an inquiry selecting Payroll > Pay Statements.

Vacation/Sick Pay Out

Former faculty and staff are eligible for vacation and sick payout. Review the information below depending on your role.

Staff

Vacation Pay Out

When a staff member terminates from the University, vacation accruals will be prorated for the pay period in which the staff member terminates, in accordance with their official date of termination. Payment for any unused accrued vacation time will be payable in a separate check processed in the following pay period following the termination. If you have direct deposit, this amount will be deposited into your bank account.

Sick Pay Out

Staff members may receive payment for unused sick time only if certain age and service criteria are fulfilled. Payment for unused accrued sick time will be payable in a separate check processed in the subsequent pay period following the termination. If you have direct deposit, this amount will be deposited into your bank account. For information on the criteria for receiving sick time payout, see the Benefits Department website.

Other Considerations

COBRA

The Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985 (COBRA) was enacted to provide continued healthcare coverage, under certain circumstances, to workers and their families who have recently lost their coverage. For information, please see the COBRA section of the Benefits Web site.

Retirement

Only faculty, staff and postdoctoral associates are eligible for retirement. For information on the benefits available to University of Pittsburgh retirees, visit the Retirees section of the Benefits website.
