Welcome to the Payroll Department’s site for new staff members at the University of Pittsburgh! Here you will find some basic information about your pay and other related services.
For any payroll related questions or issues, you will need to reach out to your supervisor or department administrator first as all payroll actions are submitted and approved by your department. If your department is not able to answer your questions, please submit an inquiry. We will be happy to assist you!
- Your Pay

The University of Pittsburgh pays employees via direct deposit. Full and part-time exempt staff are paid monthly on the last working day of the month. Full and part-time non-exempt staff, union staff and All-Temps are paid biweekly.

Pitt Worx
Pitt Worx is the University of Pittsburgh’s cloud-based human resources and payroll system. The user-friendly interface allows employees to view their payslip, update direct deposit and tax elections, enroll in benefits, and submit timecards all in one location through employee self-service.

The University of Pittsburgh offers employee self-service for securely viewing your payslips and making changes to your address, direct deposit, and Form W-4.
After your first day of work, we recommend that you log into employee self-service to verify the information you provided during the hiring process.

Questions about your pay and deductions can be answered by reviewing the my pay page. Your tax questions can be answered by reviewing the US tax information page.
Nonresidents of the United States working at the University on visas have a different set of tax requirements. Information specific for nonresident employees is explained on the global payroll page.

- Signing Up for Benefits

Your benefit elections and deductions, including health care and retirement, are administered by the Benefits Department in Human Resources.
- Employment Verification

All employment verifications are processed through the Human Resources department. Information on how you can authorize access to your secure pay information for employment verification purposes is provided in the employment verification section of the Human Resources website.
