Compensatory and Overtime Payout Timeline

Compensatory Time

  • Automatically calculated when eligible time exceeds 37.5.

  • No more than 2.5 hours of compensatory time can be accrued in one week.

  • Comp Time Paid: compensatory time will automatically pay out as Comp Time Paid at the employee’s standard rate on the pay date for the pay period in which the hours are submitted

  • Comp Time Accrued and Comp Time Taken: Compensatory time can be used as time off.

    • Compensatory time being used as time off must be manually submitted by an employee’s supervisor on the timecard as Comp Time Accrued.

    • In order to be used as time off, the employee must submit the time off as Comp Time Taken by the end of the pay period after the compensatory time was accrued.

    • Any accrued compensatory time not used as time off before end of the pay period after the compensatory time was accrued will automatically be paid at the employee’s standard rate on the following pay date.

  Overtime

  • Automatically calculated when hours worked exceeds 40 per week.

  • Paid at 1.5 times regular rate on the pay date for the pay period in which it was submitted.

  *Compensatory time and overtime submitted or approved after the timecard deadline, will not be paid until the pay date following timely approval. *Please refer to OHR Compensation for the types of hours that count towards compensatory time and overtime.
